BRUNO GIACOSA BAROLO LE ROCCHE DEL FALLETTO DI SERRALUNGA D’ALBA RISERVA 2000 (1)
Piedmont.
u. bn. scraped label.
Bottled in 2019, the wine stands apart thanks to a hot and dry growing season that Bruna Giacosa is very excited about. In fact, she prefers 2017 to 2015, although the two vintages do share similarities. This wine is very open-knit, and it reveals dark concentration in the form of ripe blackberry, candied cherry and spice. The tannins show a loose, granular quality that adds considerably to the textural impact of this Riserva. August 2023 Drink to 2050 WS 100 WA 97
FALLETTO DI BRUNO GIACOSA BARBARESCO RABAJÀ RISERVA 2001 (1)
Piedmont.

Surprisingly, the 2001 Barbaresco Riserva Rabaja is the most expressive of Giacosa’s Barbareschi today. I still remember tasting this wine the very first time. It is every bit as dazzling today. Dark fruit, menthol, spices, licorice, graphite and tar meld together in this towering, statuesque Barbaresco. Readers who own the Rabaja are in for a thrilling ride. It is easily one of the best wines Bruno Giacosa has ever made. April 2012 WA 98
